Welcome to our new Website!

After lots of hard work behind the scenes and a year in development, Quidhampton Parish Council is delighted to announce the launch of its new website – https://quidhamptonparishcouncil.gov.uk. The new site aims to give residents a more useful, accessible and up-to-date online home for council information.

The new site brings several improvements:

  • Clearer information about Parish Council services
  • Easier access to agendas, minutes, and council documents – all organised more intuitively, with better searchability
  • Improved accessibility and WCAG 2.2AA compliant
  • Compliant with GDPR and Transparency Code publishing requirements
  • Better support for mobile devices
  • News and historical information

We plan to add more during the coming months so please keep an eye out, and do let us know if you have any ideas or suggestions.

To further enhance the Council’s digital services, we have moved to a new .gov.uk domain name. This also applies to all Councillor email addresses which can be found on the ‘Councillor’ page. Please note that all correspondence should, in the first instance, be addressed to the Parish Clerk, Sasha Stagg – clerk@quidhamptonparishcouncil.gov.uk

Photo Competition Winners Announced

In tandem with the launch of our new website, the Parish Council is delighted to announce the winners of our recent photo competition, with the winners’ photos all appearing on the website. There was a unanimous decision to award Tamsin Barnett first place, whose wonderful rainbow photo now appears on the front page of our website. Runners up were Hannah Kimnell, who captured a stunning sunrise. And our youngest entrant, Annabel Bazire-Smith, with 3 perfectly framed photos, including a spectacular sunset over the water meadows which we are using as the main photo on our ‘gallery‘ page.

Thank you to all who took part, and congratulations to the winners!

It was so lovely to see everyone who attended our Annual Parish Meeting last weekend. Your presence and participation are truly appreciated.

A special thank you to those who took the time to provide updates on their roles within the village—your contributions are invaluable in keeping our community informed and connected. It was also a pleasure to welcome and meet our new community PCSO in person; we look forward to working together in the months ahead.

Speedwatch Volunteers Needed – Community Safety Initiative

Dear Quidhampton Residents,

We’re looking for volunteers to help restart Community Speed Watch (CSW) in our village. With concerns about increasing traffic speeds, it’s a good time to bring this effective scheme back.

All the recent traffic improvements—including the 20mph limit and calming measures—came from years of hard work by Quidhampton Parish Council, especially Councillors Ken Taylor, Paul Cripps, and Sandie Smith. But it was the CSW team, run by Sandie and later Joy Wagstaff, that made the new speed limit effective.

It was known as one of the best teams in Wiltshire. Sadly since then the number of volunteers declined and the team disbanded. Now speeds seem to be rising again.

Can you help make a difference to our village by being part of a new CSW team? Even a small commitment can have a big impact.

Quidhampton commemoration of Victory in Europe Day

Jane Taylor would like to thank all who organised, helped or were otherwise involved with the street party and the commemoration event on that marked the V.E. 80th Anniversary.

In spite of the chilly-ness of the weather, I felt that there was a warm atmosphere of community and friendliness at both events.

It would be impossible to mention everybody, but I think that special thanks are due to Hannah Kimnell and her team for the Monday, and to Joy Wagstaff and her catering team for the Thursday, also to Pete, Steph and David at the White Horse for their unstinting support.

I so enjoyed both events and, as always, feel so proud of our wonderful village.
